It is critical for companies to adopt various environmental practices that will collectively contribute to the betterment of our planet while also having a positive impact on the company’s overall image in the eyes of the investors and the public. This course will help CPAs obtain a more in-depth understanding of the Environmental component of ESG (the E of ESG) by looking at the various factors and metrics that impact businesses and examining the environmental aspect of the key regulatory frameworks, including key financial reporting implications. Environmental trends and innovations will also be addressed as we consider the future impacts of these on our planet.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  1. Obtain a deeper understanding of the environmental factors of ESG such as Carbon Emissions, Energy Efficiency, Waste Management, Water Scarcity, Air and Water Pollution, Deforestation, and Biodiversity.
  2. Explain the key environmental metrics related to Greenhouse Gas Emissions, including Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.
  3. Review the environmental aspects of the key regulatory frameworks and related compliance implications.
  4. Examine the ISSB’s IFRS S1 and IFRS S2, the related financial reporting implications, and the role of accountants in more depth.
